Hilton Head...

After our "short" 40-mile hop, we landed into a brilliant sunset on the west side of Hilton Head Island, at the Outdoor World Marina. Beaching the aircraft, we found ourselves in about 10 inches of mud with the sun going down and the tide just starting to rise. Since the tides in Hilton Head rise and fall ten feet, I quickly made my way to the Marina office to see about our chances of tying up to a floating dock.

The "new owners" were unaware that there was supposed to be a "seaplane base" in their marina. They did accomodate us, however, by pushing a sailboat into an adjacent slip, thereby freeing up one dock. It was a tight fit, but did manage to safely secure both aircraft for the night.
