This isolated marina is situated on the scenic, South Woccamaw River, west of Murrells Inlet and southwest of Myrtle Beach, SC, only 75 mile from Lake Woccamaw. The marina people were great. After fueling the aircraft, the "aux tanks" and ourselves, we readied the aircraft for departure.
The river, being surrounded by tall trees, coupled with a lack of wind made it extremely difficult to get the 140 on the step. After several attempts, I beached, pumped out the floats again and quickly launched, directly from the beach. Fortunately, a light wind picked up at the same, permitting me to get the 140 on the step and into the air. Bob followed in the J3 and were finally on our way.
